Preliminary Manufacturing Report
For your particular innovation:
- Do you need to estimate the cost to manufacture each unit?
- Do you need an independent, credible report stating the manufacturing costs?
- Do you need to develop or confirm the design and bill of materials with an industrial designer?
To improve the chances of successfully commercialising a new product, concept or technology, developers of new products need to have built a prototype and have at least a preliminary understanding of the manufacturing requirements of the particular innovation.
The purpose of the preliminary manufacturing report is to create estimates of pricing and manufacturing techniques for the product. It is prepared by qualified and experienced industrial designers. This information can be used to assist in the design, selling and manufacturing process. The preliminary manufacturing report is intended to be a preliminary in-expensive way of engaging industrial design assistance at an early stage in the development of a new product.

A preliminary manufacturing report includes the following subject headings:
- Scope of the Report
- Elaborated bill of materials
- Predicted cost of manufacture
- Concept drawings
A preliminary manufacturing report starts from $1,210 plus GST for a simple product innovation. More complex concepts are quoted on prior to commencing the work. Results are presented in a bound report and normally take approx. 4 weeks to complete.
